Faro de la Mola

Faro de la Mola
Faro de la Mola (Punta de Sa Ruda , Formentera) – located in the southernmost part of Formentera is this lighthouse, built in 1861. It sits on top of a dramatic 100 meter cliff, which faces the ocean. Near the lighthouse, one will also find a statue of the French writer Jules Verne, who used this location as the inspiration for “the lighthouse at the end of the world” in his book “Journey Around the Solar System”. This lighthouse was also featured in the Spanish film “Lucía y el Sexo” (one of the few times the island of Formentera has been showcased in contemporary media).
